The PWDcast #01

Welcome to the first edition of the PWDcast, a series of mixes put together by some of the best and brightest of the Melbourne scene, and beyond. First up, we have our good friend James Manning from TEA, with an hour and a half of deep techno goodness.

James has been running TEA for close to two years now, and in that time has developed a reputation for quality interviews with some of the house and techno scenes brightest talent, both emerging and established. He was responsible for touring Xhin through Australia earlier this year, and will be presenting Stroboscopic Artefacts label boss Lucy in Melbourne on the 16th of September, alongside Machine and Pinksilver. He will also be treating us to his take on techno on the 23rd of September at our next outing, and we can't wait to hear what he has in store.

Having listened to this mix over the last week or so I can pretty safely say that we will be in good hands. This is techno as we like it; in equal parts mechanical and organic, hypnotic but refreshing. Very much electronic music with soul. This is the first in our (for now at least) ad hoc podcast series. The emphasis is more on quality than quantity, as frankly there's a lot of crap out there, and we don't want a part of it. You can listen to the mix and download it at our brand spanking new official.fm page or the Soundcloud, and don't forget to like us on Facebook to keep up to date with what's happening at the Department, win tickets to things and generally be on the ball.

Until next time, keep working.
